The goals and objectives of the SkyWay project take their origin in the history of the technology creation about 50 years ago, in the remote Soviet past. When a schoolboy, living in Jezkazgan, near the Baikonur Cosmodrome, I was fascinated by rocket modelling and studying the writings of the founder of modern astronautics Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. My successes in this area were noted at the highest level.
My proposed technical solution of the problem consists of the program of a non-rocket propelled industrialization of space, first introduced to millions of readers in 1982. The international scientific community welcomed my initiative enthusiastically. Its prominent members were the participants of the First International conference on non-rocket space exploration (city of Gomel, 1988). The USSR State Cinema Committee produced the scientific-popular film "To the sky by wheel" based on my suggested program. It was shown in cinemas in the Soviet Union and abroad.
The most important and significant science for the creation of a high-speed transport (speed over 350 km/h) moving in the air, was aerodynamics, as more than 90% of the vehicle drive power is spent on overcoming aerodynamic drag. The main problem faced by all types of land high-speed transport is the screen effect. This effect consists of a sharp increase of aerodynamic drag near the sсreening surface (land, water and road) due to the dynamic blowdown of air under the vehicle bottom. The screen effect at least twice decreases aerodynamic features. The conclusion arose by itself. To improve the aerodynamics of the high-speed transport twice, suffice it to eliminate the screen effect. This is achieved by raising a vehicle above the ground.
Of all the known variants of building roads over the land, only overpasses remain suitable. However, apart from the fact that a conventional flyover is very material-intensive and expensive, it has a solid roadbed. Therefore, the screen effect is not eliminated even in it. To achieve optimal motion conditions for the high-speed rolling stock, I had to remove a solid roadbed and leave only narrow strips for wheels rolling. In this case, if the track structure is continuous, without expansion joints along the length, it is possible to increase the carrying capacity of the overpass twice. In order to exclude the compression and buckling, the load-bearing structure of the overpass had to be stretched in the longitudinal direction, that is made pre-stressed. Thus the idea of a string rail was formed.
A string rail with a bunch of bearing reinforcement (strings) stretched in the longitudinal direction at its core allows not only to remove the screen effect but also to increase by 8 times the bearing capacity of the supports on which it is mounted. This means that supports can be ten times less costly as the weight load from a lightweight trestle will be tenfold less than in traditional beam bridges. This solution turned out to be optimal both from the point of view of minimizing aerodynamic resistance and from the point of view of reducing capital costs for the construction of roads compared with all known alternatives - earthen embankment, tunnel, conventional beam trestle.
Further studies allowed to improve the aerodynamics of the rail vehicle called later a "unibus". Its aerodynamic drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.05 (for example, in the most expensive and fastest car "Bugatti" this coefficient is equal to 0.38), which is close to the theoretical limit, equal to 0.04. These results were obtained experimentally, by multiple blowdowns in a wind tunnel and patented.
It remained to solve the problem of overcoming the resistance to wheel rolling, which consumes about 1/10 of energy during a high-speed driving (9/10 goes on aerodynamics). This solution was borrowed from the railway transport that uses the most effective system of the rolling stock resting on the track structure: "Steel wheel - Steel rail". Such system has the efficiency factor equal to 99.8%, as a force of two kilograms can move a truck weighing one ton along with a horizontal rail track. Losses here are ten times less than in the system "Pneumatic tyre - Asphalt-concrete roadbed". At high speed, it is twenty times less. In addition, it is at times less in comparison with other systems - air and magnetic cushions, including the fact that they have the screen effect.
Thus, there was created the concept of the optimal elevated transport system, later called SkyWay. The main elements of such a track are 1) a continuous pre-stressed string-rail overpass; 2) rail vehicles on steel wheels with high aerodynamics, equipped with the anti-derailment system and having an intelligent system of safety, control, power supply and communications.
Each term in the UST definition is its hallmark and has a profound physical and technological meaning: (1) overpass, (2) continuous, (3) preliminary, (4) stressed, (5) rail, (6) string, (7) vehicle, (8) rail-shaped, (9) wheel, (10) steel, (11) high aerodynamic features, (12) anti-derailment system, (13) intelligent systems of - (14) safety, (15) control, (16) power supply, (17) communications. These 17 distinctions make the SkyWay transport system optimal and no other land transportation system can be more efficient if we assume that the laws of physics will remain the laws of physics in the future.
Then I realized that this engineering optimization has allowed creating not only the most efficient transport but also the safest and most environmentally friendly one. This becomes especially obvious if we use the scale factor. In particular, if an alternative world transport-infrastructure network Transnet is built by the SkyWay technologies in the coming decades, it will save till the end of the century about 100 million human lives, which, otherwise, will die in traffic accidents. And nearly 1 billion people will not become disabled and crippled. The land users will get back over five territories of Great Britain - that is how much area of soil is "rolled" today into the asphalt and "buried" under the sleepers. The area of soil by ten times more will be saved from environmental degradation. Hundreds of billions of tons of fuel worth of hundreds of trillions of dollars will be saved and the engines of cars, locomotives and aircraft will not burn trillions of tons of atmospheric oxygen, necessary for all of us to breathe.
Unfortunately, over the years of my personal experience, I realized that the majority of States, banks, venture funds, oligarchs, major investors and transport monopolies did not need the transport system invented by me. It is not in their interests to change the established balance of forces and priorities. When they come, they do it with only one purpose - without investing, to try to take away or destroy what was done not by them and not for their money. That way it happened in Russia in 2009, when our test site was destroyed in the town of Ozyory, Moscow region, or in Australia in 2011, where our business was ruined, or in Lithuania in 2014, where unfair competitors have tried to sculpt out of me a "Russian spy" with the "SkyWay legend ", "developed at the Lubyanka". Fortunately, this does not apply to all States.
The State, which is able to provide the conditions for implementing the project designed by me, should adhere to the policy independent from the interests of large international corporations and be interested in the development of the new branch-creating technology. Neither Russia, with its resource-based economy, nor Australia, where so much depends on the interests of Britain, nor Lithuania, which has just entered the EU and therefore is unable to determine its own destiny - could have done this. Apparently, this is the Providence that the SkyWay technology, invented by me for the ordinary people, should be brought to life by the collective will of these very people and not just anywhere, but in my homeland, in the Republic of Belarus. It is just this country that despite the numerous sanctions and other obstacles created by unscrupulous politicians and international corporations, relentlessly continues to seek its own path and develops an independent socially oriented economy for many years. It is symbolic that Belarus, as no other country, experienced all the consequences of the technogenic disaster at the Chernobyl Atomic Electric Power Station. I see a special sign in the fact that the SkyWay technology, aimed at the creation of a safer, more comfortable and clean environment for all people on our beautiful planet, will be brought to life here.
In 2014 a large-scale capitalization of SkyWay technologies using crowd-investing was launched for the first time. For this purpose, the intellectual property and know-how developed over the previous 38 years, are "packaged" properly and delivered into the British jurisdiction. They are evaluated as independent property by independent appraisers, having international licenses, and contributed to the authorized capital of the parent company. Therefore, the owner of these hundreds of know-how and exclusive rights on them is now not the author but this company. The author of the SkyWay technologies is naturally one of the co-founders of that company. Anyone who invests in the development of the technology can become a co-owner of the company and its intellectual property. Today such co-owners are already tens of thousands of ordinary people, thanks to whom and for which the SkyWay project is becoming a reality.
A priority for all of us is the completion of the demonstration and test complex of the SkyWay technology - EcoTechnoPark - at the scheduled time: fall of 2016 - the first stage, fall of 2017 - the second stage. The construction of EcoTechnoPark is underway on a land plot of about 36 hectares allocated for the construction of test sections of the complex by the authorities of the Republic of Belarus in the Minsk region, near the town of Marina Gorka. This will be the place of certification and demonstration to the whole world of technical and economic advantages of the technology in three transport market segments: cargo, urban and high-speed intercity (speed up to 500 km/h).
The more you request them, the more incentive manufacturers have to invest in creating more green products. It will also encourage businesses to manufacture their manufacturing practices to maintain profitability.
To complete the project successfully, all of us, put together, would need to convince only about 1 million of investors from 50 countries (about 0.01% of the Earth's population) to invest in the technology certification 20 thousand Russian roubles each. Alternatively, 100 thousand investors (about 0.001% of the population) - 200 thousand each. And then we, together with the investors that became co-owners of the breakthrough technology, will enter the world market, primarily the Russian one, from where the main inflow of investments come, with new transport product, surpassing everyone and forever.
Anyone can become a co-owner of the technology by the moment of introducing the high-tech and fast-growing group of companies on the world's largest market with the breakthrough transport and infrastructure technology. Already today we have a portfolio of pre-orders for USD 100 billion. In one year, after visiting the salesroom of the SkyWay technology in Belarus, customers will undoubtedly sign contracts. And 5% of down payments, which is five billion dollars, will pay back almost ten times in one day USD 500 million of investments - previous and current ones. We will enter the IPO. Our shares will be worth at face value. Thousands of our shareholders will become dollar millionaires, more than a dozen - billionaires. I will also be among them.
The implementation of the program Space Way with its estimated cost amounting to a trillion dollars will ensure the transition of Earth's civilization to a new stage of development. It will become a space civilization with its industries taken outside its home - the biosphere of the planet Earth. Our civilization and consequently our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will obtain unlimited possibilities for further technological development without conflicts between the Earth's Biosphere, created by God, and Industrial Technosphere, created by Homo Sapiens.
